According to experts, Shtokmanovskoye gas and condensate field is among the largest in the world. The field is being prepared for the
development in view of the subsequent realization of the condensed natural gas on the international market.
CDB ME "Rubin" was carrying out works on the platform design for Shtokmanovskoye gas and condensate field since the end
of the 1980-s. The platform for this field is unique in the world practice in terms of exploitation conditions, since it should be capable of all-year-round
exploitation in the severe conditions of the Arctic.
Several conceptual solutions on the platform type had been studied (with direct platform support on the soil, floating platform
concepts including TLP, SPAR, Buy). On the stage of the substantiation of the investments in the field development, the implementation of the latest
technologies based on the use of underwater equipment for well completion and if possible for the initial treatment of the produced gas condensate is
being studied. For the energy support of the field and for the resolution of certain technological problems the use of offshore platforms and other
technical facilities is provided. The purpose of the platform and consequently the requirements to them differ considerably in comparison with the
developments performed during previous stages, first of all due to the absence of the necessity of drilling from the platform and possibility of using
flexible raiser systems. Because of this CDB ME "Rubin" proceeds with the investigations aimed at the search for the optimum platform outlook.
While working on the design solutions the data obtained during model tests and analysis carried out by the enterprise with participation of Krylov SRI,
Research Institute of Arctic and Antarctic and other scientific institutions is widely used.
